Wonder Pets

"Wonder pets, wonder pets, we're on our way, to help a baby animal and save the day. We're not too big and we're not too tough but, when we work together we've got the right stuff. Go wonder pets! yay!"

Yes, that is what is in my head right now. If you don't have a preschooler around you probably have no clue about this. The Wonder Pets are a television show for preschoolers that is shown on Nick Jr. Linny, Tuck and Ming Ming, too, we're the Wonder Pets and we'll help you.

Okay, I have to admit this show is cute. It's three classroom pets, Linny the Guinea pig, Tuck the turtle, and Ming Ming the duck, who help save baby animals in trouble. The show starts with the classroom emptying off screen, then the tin can ringing.

"The phone, the phone is ringing."

"The phone, we'll be right there..."

And off they go to rescue another baby animal. The best part of the Wonder Pets is the emphasis on teamwork. When they built their fly boat to go rescue the animal, they sing "What's gonna work? Teamwork!" over and over. When they try to do things alone, things don't work out quite as well for them.

The boys adore this show. As soon as they hear the opening music, they cheer. I do have to mention that the music is great, all of it is done with a real orchestra and it is written for the show. It is nowhere near the typical kids' show horrid music. Linny, Tuck, and Ming Ming sing their way through the show, very little of the dialogue is spoken. That seems to add to the boys enjoyment of the show.

Honestly, though, I may whine about the theme song being stuck in my head but, this show is cute. And funny. There are so many cute lines in it that have me giggling during each one, that it's worth sitting through it. The best though? Ming Ming's favorite thing to say "This is sewious" in a singsongy voice. Every time that kills me.

If I were you, steal a preschooler to have an excuse to watch it, it really is an adorable show.

(and, right now I have two little boys climbing on me, Wonder Pets!! and pointing at the picture so it's time to stop.
